It’s been a great week for new mobile apps and updates, so we thought we’d throw up a few for you to investigate:
First up, KFC made fast food much faster by launching an app which allows its customers to complete an order and purchase on their mobile app without even being in the restaurant. Users will then simply walk in, scan their on-screen mobile receipt, and pick up their munchies…
Elsewhere Starbucks updated its own payment and loyalty app to allow the ‘Pick Of The Week’ iTunes premium apps to be directly downloaded, replacing the previously fiddly paper redemption system. Logical.
Japanese fashion retailer UniQlo launched a video recording app as part of its London Hoxton popup party series, which is encouraging people to produce 2 second shareable personal animations of themselves. And with technology becoming a fashion mainstream, Shazam announced that it is now able to tell users about the items being worn on TV, simply by ‘shazzaming’. It’s a concept that has Cosmopolitan magazine excited!
Finally, Lego remained the masters of augmented reality with the launch of their latest story telling app for kids. Upon completing various Lego models the app comes alive, filling their creation with animated drama that adds a whole new dimension to Lego products. Nice work.
